Floating Things

Tarpon 120:

My kayak is a Tarpon 120. It is a 12 foot kayak and I consider it just about ideal as a kayak for where I go. It is small enough to be maneuverable and is a good creek boat but big enough that it tracks well on a lake or on the Buffalo River on straight stretches and pools.

The boat is also large enough to comfortably carry enough gear and food for myself and kids for several days. Although when I take especially my son I will run a canoe.

Old Town Saranac 146:

This canoe is new as of the time of this writing. I have not yet taken it downriver.

I like to run a canoe down the river and it is an easy and convenient way to carry gear as well as my son, who presently is only 4.

I purchased this canoe because first it is a bit smaller than a canoe I might rent - usually 16 feet, and therefore a bit lighter and easier to get on top of the Yukon.

The canoe is 14 foot long and 80 pounds.
